Local craft business receives Voucher Scheme support

October 17, 2017

Local resident Vic Heaney has successfully applied to the Isles of Scilly Voucher Scheme for a new e-commerce website and  equipment and marketing costs for her business, Print Scilly.

She currently creates and sells various art and craftwork from the Phoenix Crafts Workshop on St Marys. The launch of the new e-commerce website will broaden the reach of her business to an unlimited market and allows the potential of all year round sales.

Business owner Vic Heaney says ‘to support the new website I also plan to launch an Instagram and Facebook page, which will allow me to engage with the summer visitors all year round and help drive new traffic to the website, which in turn should increase  the sustainability of my business’.

Since receiving the funding, the new website has been successfully designed and created and was launched at the end of the summer season.

Engagement Officer Kirsty Graham says ‘The investment from the Voucher Scheme, which represents about 70% of the total project cost is expected to drive revenue and turnover to the business through accessing new markets and is a great example of how the scheme can enhance and fast track a small business like this for growth.’

The Voucher Scheme are actively seeking out projects, big or small, that will create sustainable jobs, deliver business growth and hopefully be able to invest in their future successes.

The Voucher Scheme is delivered by the Isles of Scilly Council and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It aims to support 80 businesses on the Isles of Scilly with growth projects, and create 17 jobs by 2018.
