St Mary’s locals Colin Jenkins, Amy and Suzy Hiron have successfully applied to the IOS Voucher Scheme for funding to enable them to begin an exciting new chapter in their lives operating a family run café at what was previously known as the Longstone Heritage Centre.
The new café will be family focused with a large outside children's play area and will have a pretty summerhouse and marquee to be able to offer a venue for small wedding ceremonies.
‘the funding will make a huge difference to our plans, allowing us to undertake our dreams and ambitions to get the café refurbishment complete, including more exciting children's play equipment, solar thermal panels, rain and grey water harvesting, recycling and much needed road resurfacing and other access improvements’
Since receiving the funding the construction is now under way and the café hopes to be open for business by Easter.
Future plans for Longstone Café will include the addition of hostel accommodation for the 2018 season. For more information visit the website www.scillyweddings.co.uk/
