In 2013 Vickie Heaney was successful in applying to the Local Action Group for a new kiln for her printing business.
A project that would also be eligible for the Voucher Scheme, this purchase was essential to help with the growth of her ceramics production.
Vic wanted to produce a new range of ceramics and needed a kiln to fire her designs. Due to the limited shared use of an existing kiln, Vic had no capacity for advanced orders or peak season sales. Following the successful installation of the kiln, ceramics now provide Vic with 2/3 of her income and she is able to supply other stockists on the islands.
"The LAG funding for my new kiln was fantastic. Before I couldn't keep up with orders for hand decorated ceramics, now I can fill the kiln most nights and my sales are increasing all the time."
